| About | Michael N. DiFilippo, 40, of 273 High Street, Westerly, R.I., passed suddenly on March 28, 2011. He was born May 13, 1970, at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, Pa. He is the son of Sanna Kallen Lee of Westerly and step-son of the late Roy S. Lee, and son of Angelo E. DiFilippo of Virginia. Michael graduated from Westerly High School in 1988 and earned his B.A. of Economics from Penn State University. He was one of Penn State's baseball pitchers. In high school, he played on the Westerly High School football team. Most recently, he worked for Scott's Pro Power washing and Painting in Waterford, Conn. Prior to that he worked for Sybase Inc., Concord, Mass., and the former Watch Hill Inn for many years. Michael was very much loved by his family and friends and well-liked by everyone who knew him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a giving heart, was very loyal and would always help anyone in need. He was an avid football and baseball fan. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys, Penn State and the Boston Red Sox. He was a coach for children's basketball in Providence. He also enjoyed reading. He ran in the New York Marathon. He is survived by his mother, Sanna (Kallen) Lee; his sisters, Maria (DiFilippo) Beres and her husband Andrew of Wayne, Pa., and Margetta (DiFilippo) Hester and her husband Scott of Quaker Hill, Conn.; two nieces, Kasey and Ashley Beres; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his girlfriend Lirmaris Rodriguez, and her daughter and son. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4 in the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, North Stonington, Conn.
