About | Brenda L. Bordeaux, 48, died on Friday July 11, 2008 at Dougherty Hospice House. Public visitation begins at 9:00 am Monday July 14, 2008 with the family present to greet friends from 5; 00 pm until 7:00 pm at Miller Funeral Home 13th & Main Avenue. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church with private family burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Hillcrest/Cleveland Elementary School Mentoring Program. Brenda Leigh Kooiker, daughter of Dean and Reva (Beldin) Kooiker, was born November 29, 1959 in Sioux Falls, SD. Her family lived in Madison, SD until she was in 3rd grade at which time they moved to Sioux Falls, SD. Brenda graduated from Brandon High School. She then worked for several years at the Main Lobster and later Minerva’s. She then attended the University of Sioux Falls and graduated with a degree in accounting. She then studied for and passed the CPA exam. On November 13, 1992 Brenda was united in marriage to Doanie Bordeaux in Madison. Brenda worked for accounting firm, Thurman Comes Foley & Company, and later for Gerry Thurman at Larsen Design. Brenda had worked as a financial analyst for Avera McKennan Health Systems for the last 12 years. She was a member of the Hillcrest Baptist Church, enjoyed gardening, walking, sewing and garage sales. She had recently become a volunteer in the Cleveland Elementary School mentoring program. Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Doanie, her daughters, Mercedes, Lexus and Calli Bordeaux, Sioux Falls, her parents, Reva Kooiker, Sioux Falls, Dean (Sally) Kooiker, Madison, SD, a sister, Amy (David) Meehan, Madison, SD, and a host of other relatives and friends. |
