Geraldine (Geri) A J Sanford died at 88 years of age on January 14, 2017 in Sioux Falls. She graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls in 1946. After raising her family, she continued her education and received her MA in English from the University of South Dakota in1977. She taught at the University of Minnesota and served as an editor for South Dakota Review. Her poetry, fiction, and essays appeared in scholarly journals and her book of poems, Unverified Sightings from Dakota East, was subsidized by the South Dakota Arts Council. |
