About | SFC William Bennett, US Army, Special Forces was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom Friday, September 12, 2003, near the town of Ar-Ramadi, Iraq. Bill was born March 18, 1968, and was a 1986 graduate of Heritage High School. He was a member of Oak View Baptist Church in Walland. Upon graduation he entered into the Army where his service included work as an Army Engineer, Service as an Army Diver in Panama during Operation Just Cause, and in Iraq and Kuwait during operation Desert Storm. He volunteered for Special Forces training in 1992 and served with the 5th Special Forces Group, Ft. Campbell, KY, where he participated in numerous overseas deployments including combat operations in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraq. His commendations and awards include the Bronze Star Metal with Valor, the Army Commendation Metal and many other Ribbons and Professional Service Achievement Awards. Bill is survived by his wife, Allison, and son, Seth; his uncle and aunt, Michael and Karolyn Wood; cousin Matthew Wood; his mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Leonard Bennett; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends worldwide. |
