About | Aaron Whaley, Sr., 62, died December 10, Big A, Unc, and Granddaddy, as he was affectionately called, was born, December 6, 1954, to Mr. Joe Willie Whaley and Mrs. Inez Maggit Whaley, in Memphis, Tennessee. He dedicated his life to Christ at an early, and continued his walk in Christ throughout his life by attending Grace Baptist Church. He attended Northside High School, in Memphis, Tennessee. Although he was a "Jack of all trades", he worked for Schering Plough and retired after 25 plus years. "Big A" was a standout basketball player, starring in high school and playing in leagues. He had a mean left hook that helped him lead his teams to victories. "Unc", short for uncle, was a Natural comedian. He could keep you laughing for hours. He was the life of the party, and, he was a master griller. "Granddaddy" was simply loved by all. He could and would help Anyone... He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Gwendolyn Seay Whaley on July 24, 1976. To this union two children were born, Aaron Whaley Jr. and Adrienne L. Whaley. Left to treasure endless memories are: his wife of 40 years, Gwendolyn Seay Whaley; a son, Aaron Whaley Jr.; a daughter, Adrienne L. Whaley; a God-daughter, Maresha L. Boone; 9 grandchildren; 2 great grandsons; his father, Joe Willie Whaley; a brother, Larry J. Whaley Sr. (Helen), 2 sisters, Sharon Williams (Chicago, IL), and Joy Whaley (Memphis, TN); a niece, 2 nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Inez Whaley. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, December 18, 2016 and the service was at 12:00 noon on Monday, December 19, 2016 all at Serenity Funeral Home. Burial at Calvary Cemetery. |
