Proud he was my friend. One of the finest people I have yet to meet and he passed away 45 years ago. Another good friend, Jane Henry went out of her way to find me and let me know he passed so I contacted his parents and kept in regular contact with them until their passing in 2012. His sister, Deb lived in the Texas City area last I heard. Spoke with her last to give my condolences over the passing of her parents. It is amazing how it simply takes being a completely great person to be remembered fondly by people that knew you for the entirety of their lives. I am now entering the winter of my life and one of a very few joys in my life has been the privilege of having someone of the caliber of Kenny Pease call me his friend. Great guy, really good pianist, not that great a trumpet player but possibly the finest human being I have ever met. Not positive about the exact month of his passing. I know he passed away within a week of obtaining his engineering degree at UT and drowned at a favorite swimming hole not far from Austin. Life can be so fulfilling and so sad. Had he had a full life he would have had unbelievable success of that I am positive. Great guy, great family. I wish I was a fifth the person Kenny was. |
