About | Gary Wayne Briggs, 54, passed away Sunday, June 11th, 2017, near his home in Rio Vista. Memorial: 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 24th, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, 2045 SE Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington 76018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boy Scouts of America. Gary was born March 26, 1963, in Fort Worth to Clarence and Clara Briggs. He grew up in Arlington, graduating from Lamar High School in 1981. For over two decades, he selflessly dedicated his time in the Arlington community mentoring and guiding countless young people as both a Youth Soccer coach and Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts for Troops 591, 399 and Venture Crew 1993. Gary was employed for 35 years at Pat Murphy's Auto Shop as a Master Mechanic and General Manager. Gary is predeceased by his mother, Clara Briggs, and older brother, Dave Briggs. Survivors: Wife of 22 years, Jan Briggs of Rio Vista; father, Clarence Briggs of Arlington; children, Dylan Briggs of Arlington, Aycee Briggs of Rio Vista, Bobby Warren and his wife Kassy of Taylor, and Staci Sullivan of Rio Vista; grandchildren, Joshua Briggs of Arlington, Max and Charlotte Warren of Taylor: sister, Cheryl Briggs and her husband Joey Lankford of Fort Worth: nieces, Sharise Briggs and her husband Chris Sleasman of Georgetown, Indiana and Stephanie Martin and her husband Dan of Columbus, Ohio; several cousins and numerous extended family and friends.
