About James Jobe
James Edward "Jay" "Ducky"Jobe Ducky passed away Tuesday morning, September 29, 2009, after a brief illness. Jay was born January 4, 1971 in Midland, Texas to Walter and Viola Jobe. He graduated from Midland High and attended Midland College as well as Culinary and Design school. It is no secret that Jay was a "pillow head"!, preferring to start his day at noon, or maybe later, but he started with a bang! In recent years Ducky was well known for his hilarious text messages that brightened everyone's day. And his wit is legendary! A jack-of-all-trades he loved working at the Museum of the Southwest as well as later volunteering for countless event's at the Museum. His employment at Julian Gold gave him a chance to work with some of Midlands finest, and his work with Miss Caycees gave him the opportunity to expand his flair for holiday decorating and design. He, along with his partner Tom Redden, were well known in Midland for their catering, decorating and wedding planning services as well as their pet sitting business. Ducky never met a stranger, he loved life, friends, traveling (even by air), and most of all a deep love for animals. Jay is preceded in death by his mother, Vi, and his best friend, Bart the black Schnauzer. He is survived by his father, Walter Jobe of Keokuk, Iowa; his brother, Richard Jobe; his partner, Tom Redden, and his beloved and loving Schnauzers, Abby & effe. Also surviving are 100s if not 1,000s of friends from New York to Chicago to Texas, on to Arizona and California and on to Hawaii, plus all of his wonderful friends. The family will receive friends Monday, October 5, 2009 at the Museum of the Southwest, 1705 Missouri, between the hours of 5:00 P.M. and 7:30 P.M. For those attending please wear pink and black, Jay's signature colors. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home. Condolences may be offered at www.ellisfunerals.com. In accordance with Jay's wishes the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Lone Star SPCA, 4200 Fairgrounds Road, Midland, Texas 79705, or to the Museum of the Southwest, 1705 West Missouri, Midland, Texas 79701.
