About Mickey West
Retired Palo Pinto County Judge, Mickey Dayle West, passed away on February 16, after complications from several strokes. He was born in Mineral Wells to Orville and Betty West. He was a lifetime resident of Mineral Wells, a beloved husband, father and true friend to all. He was an avid fan of the Texas Longhorns, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and the Mineral Wells Rams and most recently the Aledo Bearcats. He loved all things Texas and especially loved Palo Pinto County and the Mineral Wells Community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Patsy Fowler West. Daughter Lindsay Eberhard and husband, John, of Longview, step-daughter, Cheryl Richardson Jones and husband, Robby, of Aledo and step-son Tim Richardson and wife, Kara, of Abilene. Brother, Tommy West and wife, Sophia of Mineral Wells. Grandchildren; Mikayla Morris, Payton Light, Abigail Light, Krystin Eberhard, Grace Eberhard, Dane Jones, Cade Jones, Kaylee Richardson, Brooke Richardson, Sydney Richardson and Micah Richardson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, his beloved dogs, Bevo, Tootie and Max, and a multitude of friends in Mineral Wells, Palo Pinto County and the State of Texas.
Mickey was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Betty West.
Mickey was a true public servant and champion for Palo Pinto County. Throughout his life, Mickey invested in the community in many different capacities and was active in his faith. He was a Palo Pinto County Reserve Deputy, Volunteer Fireman, Fourth Responder, Basketball Referee, Radio Sports Announcer for Mineral Wells High School and surrounding schools, Stadium Announcer for the Mineral Wells High School Rams, Mineral Wells High School Booster Club President, helped to create the "Teen Club" for area youth, City Councilman, Banker, Palo Pinto County Auditor, Palo Pinto County Judge, and served two terms as the President of the Texas Association of Counties. He also lobbied in Austin on behalf of county government. Most recently, he was an energy consultant for E3.
Mickey was truly one of the good guys and will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 21, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. at Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church Mineral Wells on Thursday, February 22, 2018. Burial will follow at Woodland Park Cemetery. Services will be conducted by Pastor Gary Word.
