About | passed away on January 10, 2005. His sister, Martha Spencer, confirmed that the heart operations that he had gone through in August of last year were not as successful as they had hoped. Dennis moved to Monahans in his senior year and didn't get to know many people in our class before everyone went their separate way. He was born in Big Springs, the son of Joseph "Joe" Patton Dorton and Marcella May Green. After graduation from high school he served his country in the Navy as a communications technician from 1965-1969. He loved to jet ski, take trips with his family and eat at fine steak houses. He began work at Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in San Angelo in 1971 and received his administrator license in 1974. On April 16, 1977 he became administrator of Leisure Lodge Nursing Home in Hamilton where he loved the residents. He always had time to visit or assist them in what ever their needs may have been. He was fun loving always there for his family, the residents and the staff of the Nursing Home. He put others before himself. As one person put it “Dennis was a nice man and he didn’t have to think about it. That was Dennis.” Survivors include his sister, Martha Sue Spencer of Hamilton; one aunt, Ollie Wallace of Midland and a number of nieces and nephews. |
