About | JACK WESLEY KING passed on November 30, 2001. He was survived by his wife, Charity Susanne Williams, daughters Cheilla and Shalon (all of Grand Prairie, TX), mother and father ,Garland and Myrtle King, brothers, Tommy and Terry (Monahans, TX) and brother, Wayland King of Imperial. Wayland King (Jack’s brother and Class of 65) shared his memories of Jack…..“Jack’s life revolved around helicopters and the Marine Corps. His interests involved reconditioning Cushman motor scooters and his CB radio. Probably his motto would have been something like ‘Live today to the fullest because you do not know what tomorrow will hold in store.’ After two tours in Vietnam, he didn’t know if there would be a tomorrow. After the wreck that left him a quadriplegic, Jack’s health began to fail. From walking and living life to the fullest, to knowing you would never walk again, all took its toll on his spirit and body. Before the accident, he was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. His interests included gun collecting and deer hunting, riding the Cushman scooters he restored, and mechanical work. Jack and I talked often of people we knew in high school, adventures he shared with those friends and his scouting goals and experiences. We wondered about different classmates, especially, Roy Parsons, Jerry Lewis, the McPeak brothers and many others. I know that if possible nothing would have prevented him from attending this 40th reunion. Regardless of the miles he had traveled, the countries in which he was stationed to provide service to his country, Jack never forgot his roots, and always called Monahans home.” |
