Former ’65 classmate, WILLARD B. ‘BURT’ RHODES, lost his heroic battle with cancer on December 18, 2002, in Amarillo, Texas. He was survived by his wife, Teri, whom he married in May of 2002. He was also survived by a son, Shawn, of Longview; two daughters, Laura Menges of San Angelo, and Tami Castillo of Snyder; a brother, Roy; a sister, Rheta Autry, and 9 grandchildren. At the time of his death he was employed as a truck driver. Burt was a member of the Baptist church, and in January, 2002, he had rededicated his life to Christ. He and Teri were living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, at the time of his death. Leon Grigry shared the following…..“Burt loved the outdoors. He also loved tennis, hunting, and fishing. He was a star tennis player at MHS. He enjoyed entertaining and one of his favorite activities in life was cooking outside on the grill for his friends and family. He always had a grin on his face.” |
