Popcorn was an awesome guy and was friends with all he met. He gained many life long friends and made history by becoming the first black South Garland Colonel Mascot. He brighten the lives of many with his infectious smile and kind heart. On the day we buried our dear friend there were so many wonderful memories expressed of him and Coach Nichols gave a wonderful tribute to him. Emotions would not allow me to speak but I am glad for the memories and friendship he and my family shared and will cherish those. But months after his passing we learned the following: Popcorn was poisoned (still pending toxicology and investigation). This is why there were no news articles. The Mesquite police are not giving a lot of information. No one is behind bars. My prayer is the person that ended this wonderful son, father, and friends life is caught and punished. RIP Popcorn gone but never forgotten. |
