Robert died July 13, 2008, following a brief but courageous fight with cancer. He was a great friend who provided me a home base when I visited Houston after my parents retired and moved to Lake Conroe. Although he never married or fathered any children, he was "Uncle Rob" to many of his friends' kids (as well as to his biological nieces). We shared many fun and frustrating rounds of golf and celebrated the Astros', Rockets', and Oilers/Texans' successes and agonized over their failures. Rumor has it that his ashes came to rest overlooking his favorite Pete Dye golf course. |
