Graduation Year Class of 1974
Date of Birth Oct 04, 1955
Date of Passing Jun 10, 2024
About Jan Arva Wahlen Low, 68, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2024, in Murray, Utah surrounded by some of her most precious loved ones. She was born October 4, 1955, in Murray, Utah to Robert and Betty Wahlen. She married Gregory K. Low on June 10, 1977, in the Salt Lake Temple. Jan held on long enough to spend the day with Greg to celebrate their 47th wedding anniversary while being surrounded by loved ones.
Jan loved and was loved by all. This gift was passed to her from her mom, Betty Wahlen who passed away when Jan was only 16. Jan is the third of eight daughters and the bond between these sisters is unbreakable. Jan had a wonderful marriage to her eternal soulmate and best friend Greg. Her greatest ambition in life was to be a mother. As a mother of four (Sara, Greg J, Jed, and Betty) Jan did everything in her power to love and guide her family in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was the epitome of long-suffering, dedication, and unwavering love, and was involved in every aspect of her children's lives. She diligently worked early mornings at the Jordan River Temple for 20 years an the local schools to ensure she could help provide for and be home with her children after school. She loved nothing more than being a mom and found her greatest happiness with her family.
Jan raised her family in righteousness. As her family grew from children to grandchildren, she showed the same unwavering love and gentle kindness to her grandkids and would light up when they were near. She would attend every event she could including sporting events for school, dance, gymnastics, music concerts, church events and ordinances, and countless other activities to demonstrate her dedication and undying love for each grandchild. Time with Grandma was precious and coveted by all of the grandkids. Many nearly sleepless nights were dedicated to them to allow time to sleep over and play with Grandma. When it came to staying active, working hard, having fun in her home and garden, and giving love Jan was the ultimate example. Most of all she loved people and this love showed through her Christ-like attributes and countless relationships. She will be dearly missed.
She cherished her time with her husband Greg. Some of the things they enjoyed most were attending their children's or grandchildren's events, cycling, working in the yard, or traveling to Canada and across the world to Thailand. They were inseparable and their love was boundless.
She is survived by her husband Gregory K Low, daughters Sara Dearden (Brian) and Betty Nelson (Tony), Sons Greg J (Julie) and Jed (Ilea), and her grandkids; Issac, Ivy, Levi, Lily, Aiden, Annie, Cody, Taysom, Brandon, Alex, Vinny, Sammy, Michael, Denney, Ida, Jack, and Alice, father Bob Wahlen, sisters (Vickie, Susan, Kelly, Sally, Stacey, Mindy, and Jodi).
Thank you to everyone who has expressed their love and condolences. Jan's wish for us would be to have joy and live life to its fullest or in her words "Let's go have a party-arty!". Ultimately, words cannot describe how passionately she loved her family. From each child and grandchild, we wish to express again the deep impact she had on our family's lives and our gratitude for the everlasting love she bestowed upon us. We love you and will miss you for the rest of our days Janie/Mom/Grandma/Gaga.
