Audene Scharp French Obituary

Graduation Year Class of 1969
Date of Passing Jan 19, 2009
About Audene S. French, loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother returned home peacefully Monday, January 19, 2009 after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born December 16, 1950 in Layton, Utah to Coy Nielsen and Melvin Conrad Scharp.

Audene graduated from Davis High School and attended Weber State University and BYU.

She met her soul mate, Thomas Edwin French in 1972 and they were married in 1975. Together they were blessed with two sons.

Audene retired from Hill Air Force Base in 2005 with 33 years of service. She spent much of her career as a Personnel/Manpower Analyst and retired as an Information Specialist (Computer Support). Audene felt great joy in giving assistance to others.

Audene had many talents, including oil painting, quilting, piano and violin. She had a deep love of nature and animals. Tom and Audene spent many weekends enjoying camping with their sons on their Sunridge property. Audene always referred to their property as a “sacred place” where she could enjoy spotting the plentiful moose, beaver dams, and wild flowers. It was her place to commune with the Holy Spirit, and provided inspiration for her creative outlets.

Audene was active in the American Pomeranian Club for many years. She will greatly miss the little Pomeranians she leaves behind (Preshus, Heidi and Angie). Audene’s dogs provided much love to the elderly and sick.

Audene is survived by her husband, Thomas E. French, her sons, Christian Thomas (Brooke) French, and Nathan Andrew French (fiancé Carina Faletto), her mother, Coy Scharp, her sisters and brothers, Roger (Gay) Scharp of Syracuse; Carol (Bob) Allinson of Cedar City; Valerie (Steve) Monroe of Syracuse; Vickie (Dale) Carter, Aurora, CO; and David (Darline) Scharp of Layton; and grandchildren, Cole, Trace and Trinity.

Her father Melvin Scharp preceded her in death.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, January 24, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
