About | Tomas Scott Maruri Tomas Scott Maruri, 57, formally of Utah, died suddenly at home in Hoffman Estates, IL. He was the beloved husband of Jacqueline Ann Van Vliet, cherished father of Kelly and Aimee, proud grandfather of Amaya, dear son to Bonnie Scott Maruri and the late Frank Maruri, loving brother of Brian (Collette), Mary (David) Wilkening, Ann (Chris Calver) Maruri, and Rebecca (Marty) Mendenhall, dear uncle to many, and longtime friend of Jim and Karen Newman and family. Tomas was born in Ogden, Utah on November 3, 1952. Tom was a source of strength for his entire family. He had the ability to put people at ease in any circumstance. Many relied on Tom for advice and comfort. He always listened intently and seemed to have answers based on sound judgment. Tom worked in the food manufacturing industry across the US. He was energetic and inventive, known for his innate ability to apply his deep understanding of business, economic and cultural factors necessary to develop tactical business solutions. Tom possessed exceptional communication skills with the ability to work with diverse groups while inspiring confidence at all levels. Tom truly loved his fellowman and absolutely adored his granddaughter, Amaya. Tom will be missed by many. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 11 am at Leavitt’s Mortuary, 836 36th Street, Ogden Utah. Friends may gather with the family from 10 am to 11 am that same day. In lieu of flowers, donation would be appreciated to the American Diabetes Association.
