About | Martha "Vennie" Lyon, 53, of Charlottesville, left this world after a long and courageous fight with cancer to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, Aug, 26, 2005. Born in Little Rock, Ark., on Sept. 30, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Harold Edward Martinson Sr., and Martha Venner Martinson. She is survived by her loving family; a son, Daxton M. Lyon (of the United States Marine Corps,) and his wife, Jessica; and a daughter, Alexandria D. Lyon, all of Charlottesville; a sister, Georgia Nell Martinson, of Roanoke; and a brother, Harold E.m Martinson Jr., of Winchester. Vennie had been a public school teacher for over 30 years, spending her most cherished time at Buford Middle School, for the past 6 years. She received her BA in Psychology and Education from Huntingdon College, Montgomery, Ala.; her MA in early childhood education , from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, and her JD from Miles Law School, Birmingham. Vennie also spent many years in the fitness industry in Charlottesville. She taught aerobics at Jump Start, Gold's, and New Fitness for Ladies, where she was also the aerobics director. Although Vennie left this world too early, she left us her support, love, inspiration, determination, and strength. |
