View Tribute Book Samuel “Sam” Steele Stallard, 53, of Rappahannock County, Virginia, passed away on March 21, 2026. Sam was born on August 12, 1972, in Alexandria, Virginia, to Michael and Elise Stallard. He grew up in Nokesville, Virginia, where he attended Brentsville District High School and was a proud member of the baseball team. Sam was a dedicated employee of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for nearly 20 years, where he served as an Equipment Service Repair Manager. He took pride in his work and was respected by colleagues for his commitment and reliability. Sam was known for his big heart and love for the outdoors. He enjoyed grilling, hunting, and fishing, and cherished time spent with family, friends, and his beloved pets. He had a warm, easygoing spirit and a way of making those around him feel welcome and valued. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Stallard; his stepfather, Ronney Fowler; and his father-in-law, Stanley Owens Jr. He is survived by his wife, Valerie Owens; his mother, Elise Fowler; his daughter, Sydney Stallard; his sister, Amy Wilson, and her husband Bryan Wilson; his brother, Ronney Fowler Jr.; his nephews, Russell and Simon Wilson; his mother-in-law, Peggy Owens; his brother-in-law, Stan Owens III; his sister-in-law, Becky Heinemann, and her husband Scott Heinemann; and their children, Greta and Gram Heinemann. He was deeply loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. |
