About | Ms. Sharon Elaine Pegram of Jarratt, Virginia was born on July 11, 1959 to the late Hampton and Virginia Pegram in Dinwiddie County. Sharon received her education and graduated from Dinwiddie County Public Schools. She entered into eternal rest peacefully at her daughter’s home on Saturday, September 21st at the age of 65. Sharon retired from Amsted Rail in 2021 after 31 years of service. She was a hard worker and was often noted for the passion she had for the job she performed each day so efficiently. She was a very loving, kind-hearted, compassionate and genuine person. She had such a sweet spirit. She truly loved her family and friends whom she enjoyed spending quality time with. She never had a problem saying, “I love you.” Whatever she had in her home was willingly and lovingly shared with family and friends. She was definitely a giver and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Sharon joined Rocky Mount Baptist Church of McKenney, Virginia at an early age. She planned several trips for the youth department. She also was a server for the Hospitality Ministry as well as served as a member of the Pastor’s Aide and Women’s Fellowship Ministries. She worshipped at Rocky Mount Baptist Church until her health declined. She loved the Lord and did not mind talking about His goodness. Her favorite mantras were “I trust God,” “I don’t mind waiting,” and “It is well.” She was preceded in death by her parents, Hampton and Virginia Pegram, her brothers Wilbur and Melvin Pegram, her sister Virginia Lewis. She was also preceded in death by Maurice Edwards, the father of her daughter Charonta’. Sharon leaves to cherish in her precious memories; one devoted daughter, Charonta’ Pegram whom she affectionally called “Boo”. Eight loving siblings James Hampton Pegram, Lottie Robertson (Allie), Margaret Mabry, Shirley Jones(Jeffery), Rosa Prosise(George), Robert Pegram(Cynthia), Carolyn Hall(Lawrence), Ronnie Pegram(Veronica), and several adopted siblings; Shirley Meade, Mary Meade, Dr. Lisa Winfield and David Winfield. Three godchildren; Trevon Trisvan, Khamoni Tucker and Khamiya Tucker. Adoptive daughters; Sheri Dixson, Jelisa Clanton, Jharmekia Curtis, Brittany Flowers, and Lashanda Yates. A host of nieces, several devoted; Evelyn Trisvan, Nadine Johnson, “OLG’s” Karen Bogans, Anna Yates, Angela Johnson and Jackie Wingfield. “The Fab Five,” to include daughter, Charonta’; Tashiba Johnson, Veronica Tucker, Davida Stevenson and Takia Smith. Tenishia Smith, Talyah Prosise, Janette Crowder and Crissandra Mabry. A host of nephews, several devoted; Clint Mabry, Melvin Trisvan, Gerald Mabry and Ramone Johnson Jr. A host of cousins, several devoted; Lisa Hall, Jean Flowers and Patricia Curry who doubled as caretakers, James Lee Chambliss, Wanda Chambliss, Christine Pegram, Marjorie Hill, Anthony Hill, Tawanna Hill, Lucy Jones, Tammy Walker, Graham Walker, Terrell Hobson and Calvin Hobson. Best friends; Shelia Rose, Gail Robinson, Pastor Cynthia Mason and Florence Johnson, and special friends; Reverend Christal Jordan, Apostle Claudine Lee, Pastor Carlos Jordan, Celestine Crowder, Daniel Moore, Tara Wright, Marvin Parrish, Greg Johnson, Jasmine Wooten, Barbara Dixson, Crystal Elder. The family would like to express immense gratitude to Dr. Azmi, Dr. Rachna Ramon, Dr. Samanatha Wells and Dr. Luchessi. The entire staff at the Cancer Institute and Infusion Center of St. Mary’s Hospital and Crater Community Hospice who aided in helping Sharon win her fight. We will dearly miss her loving presence among us, but thanks be to God, for though she is absent from the physical body, her soul is present with the Lord. A homegoing service will be held on Friday September 27, 2024 at 2 pm at the Olive Branch Baptist Church, Dinwiddie. Burial will follow at the Rocky Mt. Baptist Church, McKenney. Public viewing will be held on Thursday September 26, 2024 from 12 Noon to 7 pm at the Petersburg chapel, where the family will also receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. that evening. |
