About | On early Saturday morning, November 10, 2018, Mr. Tyrone “Ty” Junior Jones 60, of 3038 Homestead Drive, Petersburg, VA, transitioned from life to rewards surrounded by his loving family at VCU/MCV Medical Center. Tyrone was born on December 26, 1957, in Dinwiddie, VA to the late Leroy and Herlene Graves Jones. At an early age, he joined the Little Bethel Baptist Church in Stony Creek, VA. He was also a watch care member at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Petersburg, VA. Tyrone attended Dinwiddie County Public School System and graduated from Dinwiddie High School in the class of 1977. He also went to John Tyler Community College for two years and completed courses in Auto Mechanics. He retired from Altria Inc. (Philip Morris) in 2017 after ten years of service. Tyrone had a love for church and God. He loved his family and took care of them. He expressed his love to family and friends by inviting them to various cookouts, visiting them and helping others when they needed assistance. He was also known for his smile, soft tone voice and for giving words of encouragement. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy and Herlene Graves Jones; brother, Kendel Jones, and several aunts and uncles. Tyrone’s memories will be especially cherished by his loving and devoted wife, of thirty-four years, Seneca R. Jones of Petersburg, VA, one devoted son, Tyrone Anthony Jones of Petersburg, VA; one sister, Dale E. Jones (Aaron), and one brother Wendell L. Jones (Irene), both of Stony Creek, VA; four aunts, Ann Barnes, Emma Griffin, Virginia King (Saul), and Sheila Graves (Franklin); three uncles, Wayne Graves, Jerry Graves, Ralph Graves (Gloria); an uncle by marriage, Freddie Taylor; and one cousin like an aunt, Rose Marie Hall; five sister- in- laws, Shirley Wyatt, Charry Ruffin, Karen Jefferson (Donald), Danita Davis (Larry), and Sarah Jones; one brother-in-law, Daniel Ruffin; two nieces, Tonya Meade (Giles) and Shelby Wyatt; four nephews, Kendrick Jones, Kendal Raquan Jones, William Garrett and Marckus Ruffin and four great nephews, Jaylen Meade, Jevontae Jones, Kamren Booker and Amere Crowder; one great niece, Amira Crowder; one God son, Troy Lee; two God daughters, Ashley Hill and Shade’ Short; and a host of cousins and friends including devoted friends, Donald and Sonja Parham, Dr. Thomas and Birda Long, Marvin and Valerie Brooks, George and Joanne Parham, Alice Chambliss, Carol Jones and John Jones (cousin). A homegoing service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 12 Noon at the Little Bethel Baptist Church, Stony Creek, Virginia, with the pastor, Rev. Dr. David L. Banks, Sr., eulogizing, and Rev. George Mayes, officiating. Burial will follow at the Dinwiddie Memorial Park. |
