SGT. MARVIN DWAINE RINER SR. DANTE, VIRGINIA - Sgt. Marvin Dwaine Riner Sr. , 61, died Saturday, September 16, 2006 in Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon, Virginia. He was born in Dante, (Dickenson County) Virginia; son of the late Forrest C. Riner Jr. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Vietnam War. He received a purple heart medal, a silver star and a bronze star. He was preceded in death by one sister, Connie Long, one brother, Dudley Riner. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post # 956 Dante, Virginia and also a member of Mountain Empire V.F.W. Post # 8652 of Coeburn, Virginia. He is survived by three daughters, Beverly Jane Silcox , Lisa Renee Bridgeman both of Dante, Virginia and Carrie Lynette Riner of the home; four sons, David Daniel Rose Jr. and wife, Rebecca of Lebanon, Virginia, Jeffery Allen Rose of Castlewood, Virginia, Marvin Dwaine Riner Jr. and wife, Missy of Dante, Virginia and William Douglas Riner and wife, Crystal of Lebanon, Virginia; his mother, Edra Riner of Abingdon, Virginia; three sisters, Rebecca White of Bristol,Virginia, Lilly Turner of Abingdon, Virginia and Sue Riner Biggs of Front Royal, Virginia; three brothers, Randy Riner of Castlewood, Virginia, Dean Riner and Eddie Riner both of Abingdon, Virginia; special friend, Beverly Jane Brown of Doran, Virginia; fourteen grandchildren,Stacie, Tyler, Dakota, Kelsey, Amber, Walker, Cory, Branson, Nichole, Ethan, Dustin, Hannah, Jacob and Haven; beloved mother of his children, Kathleen Riner Howard; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Sgt. Marvin Dwaine Riner Sr. will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2006 in Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Ted Phillips officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia. by the Mountain Empire V.F.W. Post # 8652, Coeburn, Virginia.
