Gary Lee “Big G” Vaughn, 60, Kingsport, TN passed away, Friday, August 23, 2024, at his home in Kingsport, TN.

Born May 14, 1964, in Roanoke, VA, he was the son of Billie (Wade) Page, and the late Harry Milligan Vaughn, Jr.

Gary was a graduate of Rye Cove High School, and in 1982 enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving with the 639th Transportation Unit.

In 1990, he was actively deployed to Iraq during the Gulf War.

Gary proudly served his country for 12 years.

Gary was a die-hard wrestler and Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

was previously employed at the Scott County Virginia Star, where he was known as “Big G”.

In addition to his father, Harry “Bug” Milligan Vaughn, Jr., paternal grandparents, Harry “Hop” or “Big Daddy” Milligan Vaughn and Mary Vaughn, and maternal grandmother, Rachel “O’Mommy” Wade preceded him in death.

Gary is survived by his mother, Billie Jean Page, Clinchport, VA, daughters, Jessica “Heifer” Leigh Hunt, Gate City, VA, and Shaina King, and husband, Amos, Abingdon, VA, grandsons, Jasper “Lil Bull” Hunt, and Luke, Colt, and Isaac King, also surviving is his favorite and only sister, Kathy Moore, brothers, Harry Joseph Vaughn, Curtis Eugene Page, and John Kennedy Page, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Paul Sturgill officiating.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 am., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the V. A Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Mountain Home at 9:45 a.m., Thursday for the graveside service.
