Keisby Pierre Clayton Obituary (1958 - 2016)

Graduation Year Class of 1976
Date of Birth Apr 25, 1958
Date of Passing Jun 22, 2016
About Early Wednesday, June 22, 2016, God welcomed KEISBY P. CLAYTON to his heavenly home. Kees, as he was affectionately called by his family and friends, departed this life quietly while sleeping in his recliner.

He was born April 25, 1958 to the late Louis W. and Jean S. Clayton in Franklin, Virginia. Due to illness he resided and was reared by his loving grandparents, Keisby and Grace Clayton in Baltimore, Maryland until the age of six.

Thus returning to Southampton County with his parents he entered Southampton County Public Schools where he graduated from Southampton High School, Courtland, Virginia in 1976. Following graduation he entered Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia where he majored in Biology and graduated with honors in 1980.

While yet a student at VCU he worked as a Lab Technician then MCV, now VCU Medical Center, Richmond, Virginia. Keisby’s work ethics proved so outstanding that he became a full time employee following graduation. Kees worked in the Toxicology and Chemistry labs on night shift at VCU Medical Center for 39 years, retiring just a little over a year ago on June 1, 2015.

He was a kind, gentle, caring and giving person. Kees always gave his parents, niece, aunt and friends beautiful and expensive gifts. We will forever be grateful to you and the time that we spent with you on earth. We love you dearly.

Keisby’s mother, Jean S. Clayton, father, Louis W. Clayton, Sr. and brother, Louis W. Clayton, Jr., all of whom he loved dearly, preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his niece; Merrill Clayton of Drewryville, Virginia, two aunts; Carolyn L. Carey (James) of Emporia, Virginia and Vernell London of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Professional Services are entrusted to the staff of R.E. Pearson and Son Funeral Service, Inc., 556 Halifax Street, Emporia, Virginia.
