About Lisa Frey
Lisa S. Frey CHESAPEAKE - Lisa Dolores Sala Frey passed away April 22, 2009, at her residence in Chesapeake, after a long battle with cancer. Beloved wife of James B. Frey Jr., she was born at Travis Air Force Base, California, Feb. 24, 1952, the third child of retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Salvatore S. Sala and Mildred E. Sala, presently of Fredericksburg, Va. Lisa traveled extensively with her family, residing in Germany and Italy before moving to Virginia in 1961. A 1970 graduate of W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax, she studied art at Virginia Commonwealth University. She has demonstrated her artistic talents through many art forms including painting in multiple mediums, fiber arts, jewelry making, stained glass and other crafts. With her husband, she enjoyed the search for antiques, gardening, and time spent with a succession of pets including horses, dogs, cats and birds. Her favorite hours were spent at the beach and with family and the many friends with whom she worked and played. Lisa was blessed with a creative spirit and with a sense of humor that was not diminished because of her illness. She worked as an interior designer for several local firms before moving to a position in the accounting department at Hall-Hodges, Door Division. For the past five years, she was employed as a payroll specialist for the City of Chesapeake Storm Water Management division. In addition to her husband and parents, Lisa is survived by her brother, Anthony J. Sala and his wife Beverly of Fredericksburg; sisters, Nicola C. Neil and husband Thomas of Warrenton, Michelle M. Lesinski and husband Robert of Fairfax and Sabrina M. Dohm and husband Bill of Broad Run, all in Virginia. She is also survived by her stepson, Jason Frey of Chesapeake; eight much loved nieces and nephews; and five great- nieces and -nephews.
