About | Shaw & Sons Funeral Home Candace Ann Thomas, 48, passed away on December 18, 2019 at Virginia Mason Memorial surrounded by her family. Candi was born in Yakima, Washington to Pete and Shirley Thomas on March 17, 1971 and became an excited big sister on August 6, 1976. Candi attended Adams Elementary School, Washington Middle School, and Eisenhower High School. Candi’s first job was at an ice cream shop located in the Valley Mall. After closing their doors, she went on to working at a nursing home. Candi’s last job was as a cashier at Top Food and Drugs where she worked until her health wouldn’t allow it anymore. Candi met her soulmate and partner for life, David Larson, in 2001. After dating for a year, they decided to move in together. Candi and Dave had the honor of adopting four children, Angelina (17), Misty (15), Levi (13), and RaeDawn (9). Candi loved doing things with her family, from camping as a child, to barbeques and holidays spent together. As a teenager she would cruise the Ave with her cousin, Mike, and go to the car races at Yakima Speedway and cheer on her uncles, Buck, Skip, and Noel. As an adult, Candi and Dave opened their home to children placed in foster care, to numerous children from birth to toddlers and medically fragile children. She served as a foster parent up until her passing. Candi is survived by her soulmate, David Larson, children, Angelina, Misty, Levi, and RaeDawn, mother, Shirley Thomas, sister, Dawnelle (Trudi) Chen, nephew, Travis Chen, aunts and uncles, Ken (Terry) Carmichael, Phyllis (Jim) Thisius, Paul (Gwen) Noel, aunt, Kathy Carmichael, aunt, Carol Wright, aunt, Gwen Noel, and aunt, Punky Warren-Seaton. She is also survived by many cousins. Candy was preceded in death by her father, Pete Thomas, her sister, Kelly Thomas, grandparents, Ellen and Fred Noel, Virgie and Robert Reidt, and John Thomas, aunt, Patricia Sargent, uncle, James Carter, and cousins, Dee Farrington and Stephanie Noel. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home (201 N. 2nd St., Yakima, WA 98901) from 3:00-7:00 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:00 am also at Shaw & Sons Funeral Home. Friends and family are invited to attend a get-together following the service at IOOF Hall (206 W. Walnut St., Yakima, WA 98902). Shaw & Sons Funeral Home is caring for the family.
