About | Christopher John Place Of Sunnyvale, California, beloved husband, father, son and brother lost his 15 year battle with melanoma on February 21, 2008 at Stanford University Hospital. Chris was born in Fort Riley, Kansas on April 16, 1972. Raised in Yakima, Washington where he graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1990. Chris received his Eagle Scout at the age of 13 from Troop 200. He graduated from Stanford University in 1994 with a BS in Civil Engineering and a graduate degree in Environmental Engineering. He worked for two years at Metcalf and Eddy where he met his future wife, soul mate and best friend Lee Ann Goulart. Chris became a certified Professional Engineer and returned to Stanford University for law school. Chris practiced Intellectual Property Law at Ropes & Gray LLP in Palo Alto, California. He considered it an honor and a privilege to work at this firm which demonstrated great professionalism and integrity. Chris leaves behind his wife Lee Ann, a beautiful daughter Katie age 5 (now 12), an exceptional 3 (now 10) year old son Zachary; parents Dr. John and Mary Place of Yakima, Washington; brother Matthew and his wife Tiffany of Tacoma, Washington; brother Michael and his wife Mai of Stevens Creek, Washington; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and many dear friends in Washington and California. Christopher had a passion for living and fought this disease with courage and unparalleled dignity. His final words of wisdom to his children were "be happy and play fair." |
