About | Darren John Olson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and dear friend, passed on to join our Heavenly Father and Lord Jesus Christ on November 5th, 2018. He was 54 years young and, in that time, lived a life full of adventure, fun, love, and service to others. Darren was born in Seattle, Washington, on February 18th, 1964, to Chester James Olson Jr. and Judith Ann Olson. He spent most of his childhood in Yakima, Washington, where he graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1982 and enlisted in the United States Air Force shortly after graduation. Darren retired from the Air Force Reserves in 2009 after 27 years of service to his country, including deployment after 9/11. In addition to serving in a military capacity, he also served his country as a civilian Crew Chief for the United States Air Force on the B-52 bomber squad and held an esteemed position amongst his colleagues. Darren loved many things in life, most important to him was his family and getting to spend time with his two daughters and grandchildren. He also loved traveling, hunting, football, music, shooting and building guns, and serving his country and those around him. Darren will forever live in our hearts and in our memories as the guy who could make everyone, and anyone, laugh. Even through life’s tough moments, his smile and sense of humor could light up a room and make those around him feel at ease. He had a love and warmth about him that will never be forgotten – he was an example of kindness, compassion and strength. Up to his last days he spent them serving others and making sure those around him were taken care of. Darren is survived by his wife, Sherri Olson, his eldest daughter, Lourna Heller, and son-in-law, Scott Heller, youngest daughter, Amber Olson, and son-in-law, Zachary Magat; his father, Chester Olson, brother, Kevin Olson, and sister, Vicki Hummel; his grandsons Knox Heller and Cohen Heller, his granddaughter, Isabelle Magat; mother-in-law, Gail Brown and brother-in-law, Jeff Hill, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, and his family in the United States Air Force and many friends. A memorial service will be held in Darren’s honor on Saturday, February 16th, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Doxa Church 620 106th Avenue NE, Bellevue WA 98004. |
