About | David Rolfe Whitnall, 74, of Shoreline, WA, passed away peacefully in his home on July 29, 2023, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with Lewy Body Dementia. David was born on January 15, 1949, to Jack Rolfe Whitnall and Ethel Myrtle Whitnall in Yakima, WA. After David graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1967, he enlisted in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, CA. Upon discharge from the military he returned to Yakima, where he pursued various occupations (maintenance supervisor, line worker in potato plant, counselor for developmentally disabled individuals, doing insurance exams to name a few). In 1978, David met Jeri, and they married in 1979. In 1981 they welcomed their oldest daughter and their youngest daughter in 1983. In 1986 he moved his family to Shoreline, WA and began a 30-year career as an Anesthesia Technician at Harborview Medical Center. He enjoyed his work and socializing with his numerous friends. He would tell everyone he met: "I work at Harborview." David continued his education, while working full time, earning an Associate of Arts and Sciences Degree from Shoreline Community College and in 2007 a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management and Marketing from the University of Phoenix. He retired from Harborview in 2015, then 6 months later, returned to his position part-time. He retired for the second time in 2020. Some of David's hobbies included photography, rebuilding computers, exploring new roads, but more importantly spending time with his family. David had a quirkiness about him that made everyone around him laugh and smile. He had a love for Audi's, cameras, watches, and tools. David could fix anything with duct tape, goop, and zip ties. David was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ethel "Les" Whitnall. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jeri Whitnall of Shoreline, WA; his daughters, Debra (Sean) Morgen of Lake Forest Park, WA and Jodi Whitnall of Selah, WA; his grandchildren, Ethan Whitnall and Amari Whitnall; sister, Jackie (Dave) Whitnall-Cox of Yakima, WA; his Aunt June, and numerous nieces/nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held at Rainier Memorial Chapel, 2807 Terrace Heights Dr, Yakima, WA 98901 on August 14th at 3pm. Reception will follow at 408 N 10th St, Selah, WA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lewy Body Research, in memory of David. |
