About | Debra M. Peterson March 19, 1951 - November 24, 2023 Debra "Debbie" Mershon (Carter) Peterson passed away suddenly at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle after a short illness. She was born to William and Margaret Carter in Yakima and grew up and graduated from Eisenhower H.S. Having an adventurous and rebellious spirit, Debbie immediately left for Seattle to work to make enough money to go on exotic vacations to Hawaii and Mexico. As a young, single woman she bought a Harley motorcycle, tricked it out with handlebar streamers and a tricycle bell and was accepted as part of the biker community (reluctantly). Debbie worked in medical administration and finance in Albany OR, Seattle and Yakima. However, her devil-may-care life ended with the birth of her daughter Lindsay. She moved back to Yakima and loved every moment caring for and protecting her as she watched her grow up. Later, Debbie married the love of her life and continued to travel, enjoy cruises, read novels, watch Lifetime movies and enjoy her friends. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Peterson, daughter Lindsay Carter (fiancée Cody Day), brother Randy (Kathy) Carter and best friend Peggy (Chris) Humphries and her many cousins and relations. Her laugh and infectious smile will be missed by all who knew her. A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Yakima Humane Society in Debbie's name. Arrangements are by Evergreen-Washelli Funeral Home, Seattle, WA. |
