About | Dennis Hassell “took his final bows” Good Friday, April 15th at 2:40pm Eastern. He had been in Tidewell Hospice House since Wednesday, at 9:00pm. He never regained full consciousness after he was taken off of the ventilator Tuesday,12-April afternoon in Doctors Hospital – actually not since he was found ‘unresponsive’ at Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital Thursday night April 7th. Dennis died peacefully with me holding him. Although this has been a long series of hospitalizations since March 21th, his final days were in a beautiful, loving, humane and physically supportive care facility. I cannot say enough about hospice. My sister, Connie was with me during this period and guided and supported me immeasurably. Thank God for Connie …. And for all of you who have been with and for me throughout this journey. Dennis was 76 - born July 11, 1945 in Yakima, Washington to William and Iris Hassell. He loved to ‘make technology work for people’ – as he would say it. He was a man of service, whether as an electrical engineer designing systems for his clients in the Silicon Valley working for Amdahl Corporation or as an independent contractor which he was for many years. He expanded his being ‘mister fix-it’ into his volunteer/assisting with Landmark Worldwide as a Course Supervisor and on into the on-line Zoom presentations developed during the COVID-era. Dennis attended Eisenhower High School in Yakima, Washington where he was both in the orchestra and band. He proudly marched in J.F. Kennedy’s Inaugural Parade in Washington DC in 1961. He attended Washington State University where, in 1967, he received his BA in Electrical Engineering and then enlisted in the US Airforce and attended Officers Training School in San Antonio, Texas. Dennis completed his 4 years at Wright-Patterson base in Dayton, Ohio.
