| About | It is with heavy hearts that our beloved wife, mother and sister passed away on July 17th, 2024, at Good Samaritan Healthcare Center in Yakima, WA. Born March 3rd, 1951, to Matt and Margaret (Schmidt) Gerhardt in Bismark, ND. Diane graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1970. She met the love of her life Ralph Baumgarten in 1976 and were married March 19th, 1977. In March of 1978 their only son Derek was born, and her family was now complete. Diane worked for Valu-Mart which was bought out by Fred Meyer for over 30 years as an apparel manager. Diane had many passions in her life. She was a charter member of the Sunshine Lions Club. She was an active member in a local quilt club and made many beautiful quilts that she presented as gifts to her nieces in which they will hold dearly to their hearts. She also had a vast collection of TY Beanie Bears which will be passed down to her great niece Sadie Mae. She also had a large collection of Longaberger hand woven baskets which Ralph and Derek still have. Diane is survived by Ralph her one and only love of her life of 47 years, her one and only loving son Derek, sister Dorothy (Ken) Frenzel of Yakima, WA, sister Debbie (Scott) Morse of Thorp, WA, brother Rod (Dorothy) Gerhardt of Tehachapi, CA, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Matt and Margaret Gerhardt, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Delmer and Alice Baumgarten and nephew, Ryan Morse. Per Diane's request there will be no services. A private family gathering will be held at a later date at West Hills Cemetery in Yakima, WA. The family will be having a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 3:00-5:00pm at the Running Springs Ranch in Naches, WA. Please bring your own refreshments, chairs and favorite memories of Diane. |
