Gary Bruce Corcoran passed away after a long illness on April 1, 2023. Gary is survived by his wife, Jane; his children, Scott and Debbie; his daughter in law Nikki; and grandchildren, Waylon, Caleb, Ashlyn and Bruce. Gary was born on December 23, 1949 in Tacoma Washington, and grew up all over the Pacific Northwest. He attended the University of Washington, earning a degree in Ceramic Engineering. While at Washington, he joined the Sigma Chi Fraternity, becoming a Life Loyal Sig upon his graduation, something he carried with pride for the rest of his life. He moved to Knoxville, TN where he met his wife Jane and they had their children Scott and Debbie. Gary’s career took the family all over the country, providing many unique experiences and exploration of local attractions, until retiring in 2015 after a 43 year career in the cement industry. Gary was not simply employed as an engineer, but was an engineer to the core of his being. From finances, to home maintenance to the most effective method for loading a dishwasher, he ensured the Corcoran house ran at peak functionality and precision. Those lessons helped shape his children and their parenting. He also enjoyed college football, especially his Washington Huskies; woodworking in his workshop, reading spy novels and sharing his most recent stories of getting a good deal somewhere. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, from 1-3 PM at Ascension Funeral Home on Hillcrest Rd. In lieu of flowers or other considerations, the family asks that you cheer for the Huskies this coming football season. |
