John Ray Crimin Obituary (1945 - 2015)

Graduation Year Class of 1964
Date of Birth Dec 07, 1945
Date of Passing Dec 28, 2015
About December 7, 1945 - December 28, 2015

John Ray Crimin passed away peacefully at the age of 70 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born Dec. 7, 1945 to Jack and Anita Crimin in Richland, WA. John was raised in Yakima, graduating from Eisenhower High School (Class of '64) where he was an outstanding three sport athlete. After high school he married his sweetheart, Helen Crimin (Barrett) on June 25, 1966. Together they raised two children, Scott and Molly.
John had an exceptional career in law enforcement starting his career with the Yakima Police Department. He retired from Union Gap Police Department where he was the Acting Chief. John also worked for the State of Washington as a Support Enforcement Officer, and for a brief time for the Yakima Sun Kings.
For those who knew John, he was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Elks Lodge #318. You could always find him on the golf course playing with many of the friends that he had developed over the years. He truly enjoyed those memorable times on the course with his good friends and family. He also loved telling many jokes and the occasional pun that left everyone shaking their heads with laughter. One of his greatest joys was instilling the love of golf through First Tee of Yakima where he was a volunteer and coach. John was fortunate enough to share the love of golf with his granddaughter, Zoey who has also taken up a similar passion for the game.
John was also a very talented musician and played in several local bands over the years. He was a member of Cops LTD. which he helped form with several local police officers and developed the stage persona of "Gary Grease." This had a strong following throughout the Yakima Valley in the 1970's where they sold out many local venues. Later on, he was in other local bands including Old Dogs and Reflections. He continued to share his love of music with his beautiful granddaughter and they often played tunes together.
John is survived by his wife, Helen Crimin (of 49 years), his son, Scott Crimin (Mia) and grandchildren, Zoey Crimin and Matt Giussi, daughter, Molly Crimin (Ryan), his brother, Bruce Crimin (Jan), sister, Jan Kautzman (Brian) and nephew, Brandon Kautzman. John is also survived by many other special family members and a circle of many close friends.
We would like to thank the staff at North Star Lodge and Cottage in the Meadow for the loving care of John, as well as the endless support of all our wonderful friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date (Spring 2016). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Tee of Yakima in memory of John Crimin, First Tee of Yakima, PO Box 787, Yakima, WA 98907.
