About | Brookside Funeral Home & Crematory Lynda Carole (Bissell) Topham passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2019. Lynda was born June 17, 1942 in Seattle, Washington to John and Maxine Bissell. The family lived a short time in Spokane and in 1950 moved to Yakima where she was raised. Lynda was an active member of Campfire, the International order of Rainbow, where she served as worthy advisor. She also worked at Memorial Hospital as a candy striper. In 1960, she graduated Eisenhower High School. She married and started her family in Yakima. In 1974, she and her family moved to the Nile Valley. She loved her mountain home on the river and the people that became her friends. As a member of the Quilt Club, Nile Women’s Club, Lions Club and the Nile Volunteer Fire department she was always busy. She enjoyed growing flowers, feeding the wild birds, snowmobiling and going for rides in the mountains on her moped. And she especially liked caring for her flock of chickens and always had several hens and fresh eggs. Many of our fondest memories happened around the dinner table. Mom was an excellent cook and loved fixing family meals. We all agree that our favorite meals included her potato salad and Thanksgiving dinner was amazing. Lynda is survived by her mother, Maxine Bissell, her brother, John (Camille) Bissell, her daughter, Stephanie (Randy) Leonard, her son, Greg (Christina) Cobb, grandchildren, Beth (Ashton) Gottschalk, Colleen (Lonnie) Ellis, Amy Leonard, Alex Cobb, and Jack Cobb, and one great-granddaughter, Ella Gottschalk. A Memorial Service will be held at Nile Valley Community Church (60 Bedrock Ln., Naches, WA 98937) on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 11:00 AM. Brookside Funeral Home is caring for the family.
