About | Friday, June 3, 2016, Martin G. Lally passed away surrounded by family and friends at Cottage in the Meadow after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Yakima December 12, 1963 to Clarence K. and Dorothy L. Lally, Martin was an avid duck hunter and fisherman, loved camping, and anything outdoors, and especially dogs. Graduating from Eisenhower High School in 1982, Martin worked several years as a deckhand for Trident Seafoods crabbing the Bering Sea, and later, on the pipeline for Canam Construction. After returning to Yakima, Martin attended Trend Business College, earning certificates in both computers and accounting, and later earned certification as Dog Obedience Trainer through Animal Behavior College out of California. He was self-employed in commercial and residential painting and drywall for many years. Vacation adventures also took him to Israel, Germany, and Spain through the years. Perhaps most remarkable of Martin was his love and generosity to everyone he met. He was never judgmental and chose to see the good in others. He never knew a stranger, and gave generously without expecting in return. If he knew someone was hurting or in need, he would give whatever he had to help them, even if that gesture meant he would then go without himself. In his teen years, he often brought friends home for prayer and a place to sleep when they had nowhere else to go. He had a heart for the brokenhearted. A comic at heart, he could bring cheer to any situation. Martin is survived by his mother, Dorothy Lally; brother Dr. Tom Lally and wife Shelley of Yakima, sister Laura Woolman and husband Dr. William Woolman of Renton; sister Paula Lally and husband Mike Glover of Yakima; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Celebration of Martin’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, June 10th, 2016 at Open Bible Christian Center at 2701 West Lincoln in Yakima, concluding at Calvary Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Cottage in the Meadow or Open Bible Christian Center, c/o Keith and Keith Funeral Home. To share a memory of Martin, please visit www.keithandkeith.com.
