| About | Martin Walter Cure III Obituary Yakima, WA - Martin Walter Cure III -- Skip as a boy, Walt to everyone after -- died August 28, 2026, in Yakima. He was 76. He was born March 8, 1950, in Omak, Washington, to Martin Walter Cure, Jr. and Irma LaVonne Klampher Cure, both of whom preceded him in death. He attended Central Washington University, which he talked about happily for the next fifty years, and spent his career in Yakima selling insurance. He is survived by his wife, Denise Kester; his sister, Gail Macke, of Yakima; his children, Kevin and Jennifer; his grandchildren Charlie, Henry, Louisa, Jake, and Grady; Denise's children, Jared Sedge and Lindsay Sedge; and their children, Tesla, Jordan, Ivy, Weston, and Harper. He was funny and he was smart. He once tried out for Jeopardy! and qualified, then decided against going. He didn't tell anyone he'd done it. He was a serious cook, and his Christmas Eve gumbo was the best thing on any table. At his request, there will be no service. The family thanks the MultiCare Memorial Home Care and Hospice team, for their care of him and Denise. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Center for Dementia Research, Nathan S. Kline Institute, 140 Old Orangeburg Rd., Orangeburg, NY 10962, or online at cdr.rfmh.org. Years ago, he was driving in Yakima with his ten-year-old son when the Rolling Stones song "You Can't Always Get What You Want" came on the radio. He reached over and turned it up. Play this at my funeral, he said, and play it loud. He later decided against a funeral, but not against the song. Play it loud for him. |
