About | Shaw & Sons Funeral Home Melissa Rene Dupre passed away at home on January 11, 2020 from complications following a courageous battle with cancer. Missy was born in Yakima, WA, on June 28, 1971, to Jack and Mary Ann Ott. She was a pint sized firecracker nicknamed ‘Poots’ by her adoring daddy. It quickly became obvious to all who knew them that Missy was the little ‘Mini Jack’. She was exactly like him in every way. For the next 25 years, you could find her shadowing her dad in whatever he was doing; fishing, garage work, and crawling under houses helping him to install heating and air conditioning. Missy attended schools in Yakima, graduating from Eisenhower High School in 1989. On August 20, 1994, Missy married her high school sweetheart, Mike Dupre, and thus began the greatest love story of all time. They were inseparable. For the next 26 years, they did everything together; fishing, hunting, boating, landscaping, home remodeling. Whatever it was, they were doing it together. But the most important thing they did together was raising the light of their lives, their son, Trenton. By the age of three, Trenton had declared his love of baseball, so for the next 20 years, Missy could be found cheering him on, first at t-ball, then Little League, Davis Pirates, Beetle Ball, Murray State College, Team USA and finally WSU. Throwing out the first pitch to her son at a Cougars game was one of the proudest moments of her life. No player ever had a bigger fan. And no son was ever more loved. She was a woman who could bait her own hook, mow her own lawn, clean her own rifle, and change her own tire. If Mike took too long to start a home repair, many times he would come home to find her tearing into it by herself. With Missy, you always knew where you stood. She was outspoken and tenacious. Car dealers trembled when she showed up on the lot knowing their profits would shrink to nothing by the time Missy got through with them. Missy spent her working career in the mortgage finance industry. Most recently, she was employed by Yakima Federal as a Mortgage Loan Officer. She loved her job and was dedicated to helping families finalize the purchase of their homes. Missy is preceded in death by her father, Jack Ott. She is survived by her husband, Mike Dupre, the love of her life, the pride of her life, son Trenton Dupre and girlfriend Baylie Wilson whom she loved like a daughter, her mother, Mary Ann Kinch, sisters, Stephanie Ringer, Jaci McConnell (Tony), and Toni Schroeder (John), numerous nieces, nephews, family members, and too many friends to count. She is also survived by Tucker and Cougar, the family pets she loved so much. Missy will be remembered for her teasing nature and her fun loving ways, her ornery sense of humor and her perpetual pestering until you did what she wanted. But most of all, Missy will be remembered for her unwavering dedication to her family, her devotion to her husband and son, and her courage to fight against all odds. She leaves a void too big to measure in the hearts of those who loved her. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Shaw and Sons Funeral Home (201 N. 2nd Street, Yakima, WA 98901) followed by a potluck gathering.
