About | Nicholas Jordan Lang was born April 24, 1980 in Yakima, WA, to Joseph and Monica Lang (McKie). He died October 5, 2018 after a battle with cancer. He was a delightful, clever child and he loved friends and family alike. His potential seemed boundless, and as he reached adulthood he enjoyed working in retail sales. He pursued opportunities through the years at Champs, Waldenbooks, and other places, with success. Along the way he gathered friends from every walk of life, many of whom stayed in touch with him until his death. In January of 2001, Nicholas was in an accident with his girlfriend, and lifelong best friend, Jamie Wangler. The accident changed forever the course of Nicholas’s life. With the resulting brain injury and disability, Nicholas had to rebuild his life from scratch. He learned about living independently, from walking and talking to managing life’s challenges, all with a smile on his face and a kind word for everyone. He never stopped connecting with people and making friends and his accident didn’t stop his drive or ambition. He continued his retail service at Macy’s and Little Caesars, working until his illness prevented it. Nicholas had a true Christian faith. He was proud of a missionary trip to Nicaragua where he helped local people build and maintain a school. His greatest friendships came from his membership at West Valley Foursquare Church. He rarely missed a service and regularly attended prayer groups. If faith and determination were enough to live Nicholas would have lived forever. Unfortunately, he developed cancer. He fought the effects for years and never gave up, not even at the end. Nicholas is survived by his brother, Sean McKie and his wife, Kylie and their daughter, Kaitlyn of Richland; brother, Arthur Lang and partner, Miranda Stoddard of Portland; sister, Cristina McKie and her daughter, Ezri of Seattle; stepdad, Daniel McKie of Yakima; stepmom, Maxine Gish Lang of Salt Lake City; and best friend, Jamie Wangler of Selah. He is also survived by his extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins from the Lang and Mendoza families and his grandmother, Rebecca. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. A Memorial Service will be held at West Valley Foursquare Church on Sunday, November 4, 2018, at 2:00 pm. Please, no flowers, but consider donating to the WVFS Church building fund in care of Brookside Funeral Home (PO Box 1267, Moxee, WA 98936), as it was something Nicholas was passionate about.
