About | Keith & Keith Funeral Home Patricia (Pat) Helen Palmer Zirkle, 75, of Yakima, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born July 17, 1941, in Yakima to Fred and Margaret Palmer. Pat graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1959 and from the University of Washington in 1963. She was a member of Delta Gamma Sorority. Pat returned to the Yakima Valley and married William (Bill) H. Zirkle in 1964. They made their home in Selah where Pat stayed home to raise their three children, Mark, Lester and Amy. She was active in the Yakima Junior League. Once her children were in high school, she attained a degree in counseling and worked at Wapato High School with troubled children. Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret Palmer. She is survived by her three children and eight grandchildren: son, Mark of Selah and his children, Kathryn, Emily and Isabelle; son, Lester of Yakima and his children, Nickolas, Sara and Melissa; and daughter, Amy of Ketchum, Idaho, and her children, Kyzer and Atticas Stroebel-Haft. Pat is also survived by her brother, Fred (Barbara) Palmer of Sandpoint, Idaho, and her sister, Nancy (Gary) Willis of Seattle, Washington. Pat was very active in family outings and enjoyed snow skiing, water skiing, fishing, boating, tennis and golf. She spent a great deal of time in her condominium in Sun Valley surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Pat loved to travel. She visited every continent, and many times was accompanied by several of her grandchildren. She enjoyed escaping the winters of the Yakima Valley with trips to Hawaii with her children and grandchildren. At Pat’s request, there will not be a memorial service. She will be interred at Terrace Heights Memorial Park, Yakima. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
