About | We lost a treasured man whose memory we shall cherish when Paul died on December 31, 2016 in Spring Hill, Kansas. He was born to Bob and Denise Romero on January 21, 1984 in Yakima. A beloved son, proud father, faithful husband and loyal friend, he will be greatly missed. While his family grieves the loss of a bright and amazingly talented young man, they find comfort in the words of Jesus in John 10:27-30, knowing that Paul is at peace in heaven with his Savior. Paul is survived by his parents, his sister and close friend Amy Lawton and her husband Alex, his wife Brandy and children Bailey, Jaxen and Parker. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, bonus brother Corporal Manjeet Singh and close friends who were like extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty Smyth, Frank & Vera Romero, Dean Smyth and Donna Romero. Paul attended Nob Hill, Franklin, Davis and Eisenhower, graduating from Ike in 2002. He enjoyed playing baseball and basketball. Paul also worked eight summers in various capacities for the Yakima Bears, serving as a batboy, clubhouse manager, official scorer, ticket seller and beer server. He wrote for the Unleashed staff for the Yakima Herald during the 2001-02 school year. The highlight of his year was a trip with his dad to games six and seven of the World Series…which he wrote about for Unleashed. Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business from Eastern Washington University in March 2009. He worked on the EWU athletic department event staff for football, basketball and volleyball. In 2007, Paul began working for Paradies airport retail shops. It was there that he met his future wife, Brandy Rigsby. They were married in October of 2008. In July of the following year, Paradies promoted Paul. He, Brandy and baby daughter Bailey moved to Kansas City. The following spring, Paul picked up a second job working in the team store at Kaufman Stadium for the Royals. He soon left Paradies to work full-time for Aramark and the Royals. His experience in merchandising and buying led to a position with Rally House/Kansas Sampler in 2012. That same year, his first son Jaxen was born. Parker completed the lineup with his arrival in 2014. The whole family became devoted Royals and Chiefs fans. As a senior buyer for Rally House, which sells sports merchandise and apparel, the Romero family was always well attired to cheer for their teams. Paul remained loyal to his Yankees, Bucs & Seahawks. Paul loved Kansas City barbecue. It inspired him to develop his grilling skills. He enjoyed barbecuing, sampling new ales and baking. His two greatest loves in his life were his family and sports. He was committed and passionate about both. A memorial service for Paul will be held Saturday, January 28th at 1:00 PM at Yakima Foursquare Church. Sports attire is appropriate, with the exception of Red Sox gear. Rally House established the Romero Family Memorial Fund through YouCaring.com for those who wish to support Paul’s family. Memorial donations may also be made to the Yakima Family YMCA. To celebrate life of Paul and share a memory visit www.keithandkeith.com. Yakima Herald Republic, Yakima, WA January 24, 2017 |
