Sadly, I inform friends of my sister, Penny Hofer-Martin peacefully passed away July 13th at Cascade at Chesterly memory care facility after a year and a half battle with dementia. Penny was born in Seattle Washington, and brought up in Yakima by her pre-deceased parents, Dr. Harland and Evelyn Hofer. Penny attended local schools and was proud member of the Eisenhower Class of 1964. Following graduation, she spent a few weeks in Europe on a Rotary Club sponsored People to People Tour. Upon her return to the states it was off to The University of Puget Sound, follow by work in the banking field Following the birth of her second child, she started a very successful day care facility in her Gig Harbor home. Before retiring she worked in a holistic pet supply store. In 2000 she and husband relocated to Yakima, buying a nice place way out on Cottonwood Canyon, and helped our mother until her passing in '08. Miss and love you sis, Penny you were a sweet lady. Penny is survived by her brother Rick of Yakima, daughter Gretchen McAngus of Meksha Hawaii, and son Chad Fox of Gig Harbor. |
