About Richard (Dick) Bruce Elliott passed away on July 29, 2024 at Fieldstone Memory Care after extended illness due to Parkinson's and T-cell lymphoma.

He was born on March 20, 1937 in Yakima, WA to Eyler (Scotty) and Marie (Schoenleber) Elliott. In 1954 he graduated from Yakima High School and graduated from the University of Washington in 1958 with a business administration degree. He obtained an education degree from Central Washington College in 1959 and was a teacher at Washington Junior High and attendance counselor at Eisenhower High School for a total of 10 years. Dick became a licensed insurance agent in 1959, joining his father Eyler at Elliott Insurance Service, working insurance in the evenings and weekends. In 1969, he became a full-time agent and became a Certified Insurance Counselor in 1978. Dick enjoyed working with his clients. He followed the motto, "Service Makes the Difference." In 1991, he purchased his dad's half of the business and after 58 years as an agent, he retired in 2018.

Dick met Joanne Rosenkranz in 1961 at a First Presbyterian Church singles group. They were married in 1964 and in June of 2024, celebrated their 60th anniversary.

Yakima Lions Club was an important part of Dick's life. He spent many years participating in their activities. Also, Dick was a long-time member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder. A life-long car aficionado, in his free time, Dick never tired of reading about, looking at, and talking about cars.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents. He is survived by his wife Joanne, his son Douglas (Cara), his daughter Julie, granddaughters Margo and Miriam, and his sister Judy Schussler, as well as cousins, nephews and nieces.

We wish to thank the physical and occupational therapists at Landmark Care and Rehabilitation for their skilled and dedicated care. We are also so grateful for the outstanding care Dick received at Fieldstone Memory Care. Both Dick and his family benefited greatly from the extremely thoughtful and dedicated staff during his time there.
