About | NOTE: Photo is from the 1967 yearbook when he was a junior (?). Robert M. Talcott Jr., age 73, passed in his sleep to be with his Lord and Savior on June 20, 2022, at home in Yakima, Washington. He was born in Yakima, WA at St. Elizabeth Hospital to Robert M. Talcott Sr., and Marguarite E. Talcott on June 2, 1949. He married his wife Barbara Bates on August 2, 1980. As a youth, Rob was involved in many activities. He participated in YMCA's Indian Guides program, and local grid kid football. In addition, he was very active in Boy Scouts of America. He joined troop 1, sponsored by First Presbyterian Church and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. He was elected to the Order of the Arrow, an honor camper's organization. Rob attended summer camp at Camp Fife and eventually become a staff member. Music was a big part of Rob's life. He played the trumpet in band throughout his school years. He was part of Eisenhower High School's marching band that took part in the 1968 Rose Bowl parade. Upon graduating from Ike in 1968, Rob went on to WSU and graduated with a degree in music education. While in college, he formed the band "Starbuck" which played primarily in Eastern Washington and the Spokane area. Rob eventually returned to the Yakima area, taking over the family music store, Talcott Music, which was opened by his grandfather in 1910. He ultimately took over management and ownership when his father retired until the store closed in 2000, after a 90-year run. They supplied the Yakima Valley with band instruments, pianos, and musical lessons. He and his family were 3rd generation owners of the music store known, loved, and will never be forgotten by all in the community. Rob was quite involved in athletics at both Wilson Jr High and Eisenhower, lettering in wrestling. Later in life, he sponsored the Talcott Music softball team of which he was an active team member. Rob is survived by his wife Barbara Talcott, daughter Nicole Brice, son Michael Talcott, grandsons James and Elijah Brice, his sister Janet Catlin, and many others.
