He graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1961, and served in the United States Air Force, as an aircraft mechanic from 1961 to 1966. Ron was a skilled carpenter and worked for United Builders, and then the Noel Corporation until retirement. "Ronnie" had a lifelong love of baseball that started at a young age. He played fastpitch softball for over 20 years, most notably as a pitcher for Mercy Theatre and then Pepsi Cola. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed fishing, golf and traveling. He was a long-time member of the Yakima Athletic Club. He was an attentive grandparent, and frequently took his grandsons on many adventures, to both Cowiche Canyon and Mt. Rainier. Those special memories with Grandpa will be cherished forever. He will be remembered for his work ethic, competitive spirit, wonderful sense of humor, and the love he had for his family and friends. He is survived by his daughters, Leslie (Ron) Dillman, and Shara (Alonzo) Cornella, his grandsons, Justin (Heather), and Ryan (Lexi), and one great-granddaughter. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Gary. At Ron's request, a private memorial will be held. |
