About | NOTE: Year of graduation calculated. Could be 1983. *************************************** Roy Aaron Van Horn, 57, of Union Gap, Washington, passed away at MultiCare Yakima Memorial Hospital, due to surgery complications after defeating lung cancer, on March 23, 2024. He was born in Prosser, on May 22, 1966, to Emery Van Horn and Mary Henderson, and moved to the Yakima Valley at a young age. Roy attended Union Gap Elementary and Eisenhower High School, before working many years in customer service, and eventually becoming a machinist/sand blaster. He had love for woodworking and artistry, and finally made it his career. Roy loved spending his free time on the road on a motorcycle, and the side of a lake, waiting for the next big bite. He spent many summers with family and friends camping, fishing and relaxing. He was never a man to make his presence known through being loud, but through his actions. He was well respected amongst his friends and family as a man that was very forward and not one to play games. He was quiet, but he carried a very large stick. His anger was very rarely seen, but when it was, it was feared and respected. Roy was always seemingly relaxed, even with 100 things on his mind, but left this world with only the concern, that his only daughter would be taken care of. He left this world knowing both sides of his family, his wife's family, and his daughter's in-laws would make sure she was taken care of. His biggest concern was that she would at some point go out and catch a larger fish than he ever did. Roy is preceded in death by children, Crystal, and Aaron, and stepmother, Ester Van Horn. Roy is survived by his wife, Diana Van Horn, daughter, Melissa Van Horn, father, Emery, mother, Mary, and siblings, Clinton, Allen, Sarah, and Wayne. Roy's Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday, May 22, 2024. Contact family for location. |
