About | On August 1, 2017, our daughter, sister, mom, grandma and friend, Salina Marie John was involved in a fatal car accident in Humboldt County, California. She was 41 years old. Salina was born on October 8, 1975 to Walter and Linda John at 4:25 PM at St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia, Wash. She weighed 6 lbs, 11 ¼ ozs. And was 19 inches long. She joined big sister, Mary. Brother Milo joined the family in 1977, brother Ben was born in 1983 and sister Laura in 1984. When Salina was born she was known by the name Papoose, and later became Sissie Poop. When Salina was 4 ½ years old the family moved to Yakima, Wash. She attended McKinley Elementary School, Franklin Middle School, Davis, West Valley and Eisenhower High Schools. Among her many talents was her ability to draw, especially portraits and profiles. She also was musically gifted. She won the top award for playing the flute when she was in the 5th grade at Franklin Middle School. She was also an amazing cook and her favorite food was Mexican cuisine. Salina had the ability to make everyone laugh and her laugh was contagious. We will miss that laugh and her bright beautiful smile. Salina has 6 children, 4 boys and 2 girls: Danny, Mikayla, Gina, David, Skye and Rainn. She moved to California in 1999 and returned to Washington state in 2000 to be closer to her family and daughter Mikayla. In November of 2001, her family moved to Aberdeen and the next year the family built a home in Shelton. While there she worked at Little Creek Casino as a floor person. Her heart was always with her children and they were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of her strength and courage during hard times, along with her nurturing, loving and protective nature, will live on through her children. Salina’s indomitable spirit encouraged her family and friends to persevere in the face of struggles and adversity as she had overcome many hard times. She pushed forward to be an amazing daughter, a loving sister, a protective and doting mother and a loyal and loving friend. This is how she will be remembered. She also loved unicorns. Salina was predeceased by her father, Walter John, in 2003. She is survived by her 6 children, Danny, Mikayla, Gina, David, Skye and Rainn.
