About | Our loving wife, mother, and sister Trina Ann (DiMario) Johnson, 77, passed away at home on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 with her family at her side. Born July 3, 1945 in Spokane, WA to Frank F. and Evelyn L. (Strait) DiMarioTrina was the oldest of three in an Italian-British family. The family relocated to Yakima in the late 50s where she attended Eisenhower HS graduating in 1963. Trina studied nursing at Deaconess in Spokane and it was there where she went on a blind double date with a troublemaker named Bari. Married in Yakima in 1966, the couple honeymooned on the Oregon Coast. Bari and Trina stayed in Spokane where she was a private-practice nurse until her dad called and begged her to "fill in" in the family business, Crown Distributing (R&R Beverage) of Yakima. She "filled in" for the next 28 years. Nursing never left her as her true calling. Trina was a born caretaker, mother, and big sister and continued to be so throughout her entire life, even through her last journey. Always worried about everyone else, deferential and generouswith a huge heart and incredible sense of humor. Everyone who met her loved her sweet and friendly personality and boundless hope and optimism. Trina was involved with Beta Sigma Phi, where some of her dearest and oldest friendships blossomed. In the mid-80s Bari and Trina were indoctrinated into club volleyball with Team Yakima through their daughter, and spent six years driving teenage girls to tournaments all over the PNW. It was in this context where fellow moms Pat and Shirley got together and created the TEAM MOM program after a certain mishap with a hotel in Portland. :) After retirement Trina and Bari took many extended RV trips across Canada, the Southwest, and wintering in San Diego for seven years; and cruised the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, and through the Panama Canal. A voracious reader, Trina could read a book a day. She loved Star Trek and Star Wars. We never did understand how she could read and watch a Seahawks game at the same time but that was Trina. She loved antiquing, collecting, and gift hunting. She adored all animals and of late her deer and the pigeons nesting on the front porch. After continuing to vacation on the Oregon coast throughout their lives Bari and Trina built a home in Lincoln City in 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed every sunset, green flash, and whale sighting through her last. Trina was preceded in death by her parents Frank F. and Evelyn L. DiMario. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bari and daughter Shannon (Kathy High), her brother Frank (Lexie) DiMario, her sister Judy DiMario, cousin Mick (Karen) Panarello, and her brother-in-law Lynn (Sherry) Johnson; nieces and nephews: Frankie and Michael (Nichole) DiMario, Kristin (Chad Paulson), Charlyn (Kyle Dalvit), Jill (Andrew McColm), Renee (Scott Shaw), and Angela Baumgardner DiMario. Dearest friends Kae Miller, Lo Donaldson, Carolann Shewmaker, and Sandie Rinna were her rocks. A celebration of Trina's life will be held at a later date in Yakima, with an interment service in Spokane. "Though we are distanced by time from you, mom, that bond will hold us close and will never weaken. The love we share will never be more than a memory apart." |
