About | Gerald (Buddy) Marrs (2/7/1950 - 8/22/1981) Buddy was born Feb. 7, 1950, in Vancouver. He was a lifetime Clark County resident and last lived at 8812 NW 15th Ave. A lumber broker for Kerr Pacific Corp. in Portland, Marrs also taught at Vancouver Pan Terra School for five years. He was a graduate of Hudson’s Bay High School and the University of Portland. His widow, Frances, at home, said her husband played in the Brush Prairie Softball League for 11 years. Besides his widow, he is survived by his parents, Gerald Sr. and Mabel Marrs of Vancouver; his grandfather, Wiley Marrs at St. Louis; and a sister, Marlinda Stearns of Salem, OR. Marrs, a 1968 graduate of Hudson’s Bay High School where he played varsity baseball and basketball and was in the choir, later, taught at the Vancouver School District’s alternative Pan Terra School. Marrs earned bachelors and master’s degrees from the University of Portland, where he was on the baseball team. “He was full of good spirits”, said Paul Gutierrez, Vancouver Schools assistant superintendent. In college, Marrs won a Rotary scholarship and studied at Oxford University in England, Gutierrez said. |
