About | Craig L. Schmidt (2/1/1950 - 3/26/2004) Former Vancouver resident, Craig Lynn Schmidt, 54, died March 26, 2004, in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Mr. Schmidt, who graduated from Hudson's Bay High School, Clark College and the University of Hawaii, had been teaching English in Saudi Arabia for the past five years. He had just begun a new teaching position at King Fahd University. Mr. Schmidt, who was fluent in German, French and Dutch, had taught at Clark, Portland and Mount Hood community colleges, as well as in Greece, Japan and Saudi Arabia. He was born Feb. 1, 1950, in Vancouver. While serving in the Army he was sent to the Foreign Language Institute in Washington, D.C., to learn the Lao language and be an interpreter. Survivors include his parents, Rene and Frank Schmidt of Vancouver; and his twin sister, Karen Schmidt of Vancouver. |
